Black Out

Hello loves!  In recognition of Black Friday (and me not partaking in any shopping activities on this day), I decided to give you my Black Out look.  Sometimes, I get the best ideas when I'm about to fall asleep and this all black look popped in my head at that time.  I actually wore this look shopping (trying to get my Christmas shopping done earlier this year), but you can wear it almost anywhere...on a date, for the holidays, family gatherings, etc.  I decided to add all gold accessories and this is what happened.  The vest was perfect for shopping because I could take it off when I got too warm inside.  What are your plans for Black Friday?

Holiday Look

Happy Thanksgiving!  While you are all enjoying your family and good food, I thought I would share a holiday look that can be done over the next few weeks.  I have to admit, I am not much of a red person, but when I do wear red, I get the most compliments.  I also enjoy styling this dress below.  I bought this dress from Francesca's a few years back and I have worn it multiple times since then.  The dress feels very nice to the touch and I can make it work for many different looks.  It is the perfect dress for the upcoming holidays.  I can style it down with flat boots and a vest, or make it a little dressier like I did here.  What are you wearing for the upcoming holidays?

Weekend Recap and a Shopping Look

Happy Monday!!  I hope your weekend was fabulous!  My husband and I spent our weekend in Greensboro, North Carolina with a couple of really good friends.  We mainly ate amazing food...which was my favorite part.  The first night we were there, we ate at Print Works.  The food was good...I had duck with beans.  The next day, we all went to the UNC game at Chapel Hill and got to sit in the Blue Zone!  We had so much fun and it was a good game.  That night, we ate at Liberty Oak...oh my goodness!  The food was so good there!  I had short ribs and they were fall-off-the-bone-good!  That was probably my favorite place there.  The next morning, we had brunch at The Filling Station....it was so good too!  I had fried green tomato eggs benedict...amazing!  I love good food...I mean really good food, and I get excited when I find special places that offer things a lot of other restaurants do not offer (or maybe isn't as good).  We finished off the weekend with a little Christmas shopping.  I got to go to some places that we don't have here in Myrtle Beach.

Anyway, enough about the weekend and on to the look at hand.  I wore this recently while shopping at the mall.  I wanted something a little warm since it was cool out, and since I was shopping, I needed some sort of flat shoe.  My go-to shoe when shopping during the winter is a riding boot.  I absolutely love them.  As you can see below, I mixed neutrals.  If you would have talked to me 5 years ago, you would have never seen me wear black and brown together.  Now, it's one of my favorite things to do.  Breaking rules!  Ha!   Do you ever break any fashion rules that you used to have?  If so, which ones?

Styling a Faux Fur Vest

Good Morning Loves!  I hope your week was fabulous!  As of today, I am officially on a stay-cation!  I can't tell you how excited I am.  It is a much needed one, since I haven't taken a vacation since February.  I had a really long work week this week and I am really excited to have a week to spend with family and friends and to enjoy the holidays.  I'm not sure how much relaxation I will get, but at least I will be having fun!  I'm sure I will also be getting into the Christmas spirit.  I have really been excited about Christmas this year.  I already have my tree up...don't judge!  And I already have some shopping done.

I wore this look below to work recently.  We have had some record low temperatures here in the south, and I am loving it for the holidays.  If you didn't know, I am lucky enough to be able to wear jeans to work at any time I would like.  I don't do it all of the time but I did here.  I have really been in a funk lately where I have been wearing a lot of casual clothes.  I love being a little dressier, but I haven't felt like it lately.  So, if you haven't noticed, I have been doing a lot of casual looks.  I have already made up my mind, though, that I will focus on getting some more good looks this next week and hopefully several of them will be dressier.  Anyway, I love that fur is in and I decided to style it here with a Lauren Conrad blouse.  You can wear a vest like this over almost anything.  You can wear it with a dressier blouse, or you could make it more casual with just a long-sleeve tee.  This look is also good for running errands or meeting up for coffee on a cold morning.  Have you been styling fur vests already?  If so, how have you been styling them?

Layering with Perfectly Coutured

Today, I have teamed up with Bethany of Perfectly Coutured to bring you two ways to wear layers this fall. Not only do we love layers because they are so cozy, but we also love that they provide an opportunity to mix textures and patterns. The styling possibilities with your fall and winter wardrobe can become endless by doing a little mixing and matching when layering. Check out how we decided to layer up below.

Bethany layered her colorful sweater over a gingham button down and paired them with jeans for a great look for running errands or shopping. I love how the orange in her gingham shirt brings out the orange in the sweater!  Meanwhile, I decided on a more monochromatic look that would be cute for a casual date night. And of course we are both wearing suede booties which are an absolute fall must-have! To see more of Bethany's look, head on over to her blog!

See more of my look below!

This Brown Bag

Happy Friday!

I don't know if you noticed, but I feel like I wear this brown (cognac) bag all the time!  I feel like it goes with everything, browns...blacks...creams...neutrals...etc.  And it does.  But, I think I should start pulling out some of my other bags and put those in rotation!  Oh well...here it is again.  Money well spent!  Do you ever get in a rut with your handbags?

Silver Lining

Good Morning!  I hope the middle of this week finds you well!

I wore this look to work recently.  I have this neon orange blouse that I have been trying to work into my fall wardrobe.  I think the fact that it is orange definitely helps the transition from summer to fall.   I wanted to wear it but I just wanted pops of neon.  So I put a sweater over it and tied it all together with a blazer.  I typically have been wearing gold accessories lately, but I felt that with the grey, silver would work better.  It felt nice to wear some of my silver jewelry again.

Happy Veteran's Day!

Happy Monday and Happy Veteran's Day!  In honor of Veteran's Day, I decided to pay tribute with this outfit in a subtle way, by using military-like colors.....greens and tans.  I love casual outfits and doing subtle themes.  I have done a subtle Native American theme with fringe earrings and moccasins (I have Native American in my family....although my very pale skin doesn't tell anyone that).  I do subtle themes all of the time and love it.  Do you ever do themes with your outfits?  If so, what have you done?

And, in honor of Veteran's Day, I would like to thank all Veterans who have served our country.  Sometimes I take for granted my freedoms and it's moments like these that remind me that I'm blessed to live in this country.  Sincerely, Thank you!

InstaLately

Hello loves!  It's been a while since I posted Instagram pics...so here they are!  Don't forget to follow me on instagram....mzmarlowe

Hope you have a wonderful day!

I love this new table!  I put it in my foyer initially and wasn't loving it there.  It just wasn't as functional as I thought it would be (I use my foyer table for many things).  So, I think I am going to keep it and put it in my spare bedroom.  I think it will go better there.

My adorable nieces on Halloween!  I love them so much!

Spinach dip that I made for work on Halloween...it was so good!

Me on Halloween!

How cute is my dog!  He had his head propped on the couch because he wanted to be up there so badly!

Can I still call these hater blockers?

I don't know about you, but I am loving Kate Spade Saturday...I could not resist these shades...especially since I got them during their 30% off sale!
